★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Jansen Jazz Orchestra swung into the Jansen Art Center on March 1st, delivering a vibrant and captivating performance. The energy was infectious from the opening notes of Gershwin's "Fascinating Rhythm," setting the stage for a delightful journey through the world of jazz. The orchestra showcased impressive versatility, seamlessly moving from the classic swing of "Moten Swing" to the Latin rhythms of "Malagueña" and the contemporary flair of "Goodbye Enchilada." Each musician brought their own unique voice to the ensemble, creating a rich and dynamic sound that filled the room. The vocalists, Annika Boersma, Tom Ochiai, and Jacob Pounder, added a special touch, their voices blending beautifully with the orchestra. Sheran Ramey's piccolo solos were a delightful surprise, adding a unique color to the performance. The Jansen Art Center provided the perfect backdrop for this musical celebration. The intimate setting allowed the audience to connect with the musicians, creating a truly special experience. The Jansen Jazz Orchestra is a credit to the Lynden arts community. Their passion for jazz was evident in every note, leaving the audience energized and wanting more.
March 01 · Amir A.This was a great art exhibit! I was honored to have one of my drawings chosen for display. With the option of "not selling" made me feel at ease. It's hard putting yourself out there, but the staff was very welcoming and inviting. They encouraged exploration and cherished each art piece. The variety and aesthetics of the different art displayed was definitely very unique and vibrant. In the future I'll be looking into putting up more artwork to eventually sell. Music, drinks, and a scavenger hunt what more could you ask for!Just vibing to the music, people watching people viewing art was a cool experience. I was honestly surprised that there is such an artsy, eclectic crowd around. Reminded me of the Art venues in L.A. Definitely an amazing experience!
March 13 · Eleanor MArt community, Did you know there was something this fantastic in Lynden? If you have not yet visited the newly remodeled city hall/fire station building in the heart of Lynden, you need to. It is now a top notch art center with an eclectic mix of many types of art you not only go to see but create. The 20k sq ft building is available for rent for private parties and includes a fantastic cafe open daily to the public, but the center piece of it all is the art. You can see and participate in painting classes, pottery, jewelry making, dance, jazz music, private music lessons and even tapestry to name a few. Come listen on Thursday nights to no cover live music while having a light meal from the cafe. The people of the community that operate the Jansen Art Center are fantastic, love to share their passion and encourage you to participate. A must visit if you love art.
September 02 · Shawn RobinsWonderful place to view art AND create art! So many programs and I would encourage anyone to stop in and see how they could get involved. Valuable community hub for the arts.
November 12 · Jake LoganA fantastic gallery with many kind volunteers. They host events and classes and have enough space for several solo exhibits. Beautiful piano room. I can't say enough good things about this gallery! Check it out!
