★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I recently purchased Jazz shoes for my six year old son for Theater Camp. The SMAPA Dance Store was the closet store next to driving to the City to purchase dance shoes on a Sunday at that.Briana was so kind and wonderful on the phone. I called on a Sunday and she pulled the potential sizes ahead of time. Originally, I was not going to bring my son. Briana encouraged me to bring him in order to have him try them on in person. I am so glad I listened! My ETA was 12:01pm and the store was due to close at noon. Briana said no worries, she would stay in order for me to try the shoes on. WOW! By the time we found parking it was 12:05pm ( we scored a great spot a block away) and we called Briana to advise we were walking up now. She was so sweet; so personable and assured us that she would stay open for us to arrive.Turns out my son was a larger and wider size and Briana had just the size and width that we needed! She was absolutely lovely! Thank you Briana for your exceptional customer service!
August 22 · Allison Lee ConnerI wanted to take a moment to express how much my daughter and I enjoy the dance classes at Sharron Miller's Academy for the Performing Arts. Sharron's passion for dance is truly inspiring, and it's reflected in the amazing teachers and engaging classes offered. We're so excited to continue my 6-year-old daughter's dance journey at the new location. Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience.
January 14 · Kevin OGilvieDo not take the beginner ballet class without having some experience!!!! Took the beginner ballet class expecting to learn ballet as an absolute beginner to dance/having no prior knowledge and was eager and ready to learn and jump into it! My expectations were completely wrong. The instructor starts without introducing herself or the class, immediately jumps into ballet lingo and moves that, as a newbie, I had no idea what any moves meant, and she conducted the class extremely fast. When I asked if I should have known the positions prior to taking th class and explained how I have no prior knowledge of the art, I was told by the instructor, “I don’t know, follow along and figure it out” without any other explanation. I felt like a fish out of water. Perhaps I misunderstood what the beginner class entails. But I did enjoy learning whatever ballet I could grasp on my own and will take a beginner ballet class elsewhere.
February 05 · Amanda LiskaI take adult ballet beginner with Adrienne Armstrong on Tuesdays and I love every minute of this class. She is a wonderful instructor - very patient and always makes sure we learn something new in a fun welcoming environment.Diana
April 27 · Boxer & Dane Inc.Very disappointed in this school. It’s black owned and the people here are rude and racist anyway. It’s clear who they want to cater to. Their prices just keep getting higher and higher for no reason. My child was there for three years and learned nothing. The receptionists are always rude, that must be a requirement because they generally all are. And they ruin the experience the most. There’s an older woman there in the evenings and she’s horrible. Not nice to the kids, always complaining about people’s manners as if we are there to please her. I’m giving two stars because there are a couple of teachers that are good. But there was one ballet teacher who showed no interest in teaching real skills, always rushed in and out. Never gave feed back. A complete waste of my money. Sorry I stayed as long as I did.
