Oregon Ballet Theatre School Introduce
The **Oregon Ballet Theatre School (OBT School)**, located in the vibrant city of Portland, stands as the official training ground for the celebrated Oregon Ballet Theatre company. Recognized as one of the premier ballet schools in the country, OBT School has served as a pillar of dance education in the Pacific Northwest for over 35 years. The institution’s mission is dedicated to providing the highest quality dance training to students of all ages and backgrounds, fostering not just technical excellence but also artistic depth, self-confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for the art of movement.
OBT School offers professional training for everyone, whether a student aspires to a professional career in ballet or simply wishes to pursue dance recreationally. The world-class faculty emphasizes rigorous classical technique while pairing it with modern athleticism and technical versatility—essential for today’s dancers. Beyond the steps and technique, the curriculum is designed to teach the "whole artist," instilling vital life skills such as perseverance, self-care, and kindness toward others, embodying the school’s core values of excellence, sensitivity, and inclusivity.
The school is highly regarded for its adaptability and commitment to the student body, demonstrated by its swift and effective response to global challenges, pivoting quickly to maintain a sense of routine and community through online and creative programming. However, prospective students in Oregon should carefully note the school’s financial policies. At least one customer review indicated significant difficulty in receiving a refund upon course withdrawal for unforeseen reasons. While this is an important point of concern, it is a key factor to verify and understand before enrollment. Oregonians considering an investment in dance education should ensure they are fully committed to the duration of the enrolled course or thoroughly review the official refund policy to mitigate potential financial disappointment.

Oregon Ballet Theatre School Reviews
OBT has always been an amazing institution of dance education, inclusive and a special place for all ages. The response to Covid-19 has been truly above and beyond, pivoting quickly and providing a space for the students to maintain a sense of routine and community. Thank you all the teachers and staff for creating an unanticipated, but unforgettable, season for students and parents.
June 02 · Casey EdwardsThe worst school ever. They will charge your money and never pay you back if you withdraw your course for un-predicted reasons. So, be sure to make sure that you will not have any problems for the time period you enrolled with the school. Because they WILL NOT give your money back for whatever reason you have. And, they will not kindly remind you that.
February 07 · Yuxi CaiOne of my family members goes to OBT and they love it there. The way that they encourage their dancers to pull through and dance their hearts out is just stunning. They encourage students to return daily to practice their technique and master the arts of ballet. The teachers are highly experienced and teach with kindness but also with intelligibility. OBT is one of the best things that's ever happened to her, and I'm sure you'll love it too. Their annual performances give the students a chance to dance with their peers and show to the public the different techniques that make up ballet. They are given a chance to dance with the company artists and it is a good experience for all. Highly recommend to anyone with a dream or who just wants to dance their heart out. Every day you'll finish class and learn something new. OBT teaches their students that corrections are not failures, and that all dreams are achievable.
September 29 · JacobWhile it's nice to have big ticket ballet in PDX, OBT is pretty "inside the box" for this town.
January 16 · Charles BosseTook some great classes here. Loved the teachers
