Step 2 This Dance & Performing Arts Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was previously very involved at S2T and kept quiet out of respect for family, but now that the studio has responded to reviews after 5 years, I feel it’s important to repost the actual review for context. My daughter danced at S2T from age 3 to 13, including 7 years under her grandmother’s ownership. Once Amber and Joe took over, things changed. As a family member, I helped them during their transition and even wrote emails on Amber’s behalf, ran fundraisers, and was deeply committed to the studio. But over time, I began to see troubling patterns—favoritism, bullying, and a toxic culture.Amber often pitted parents against each other, involved herself in parent drama, and harshly disciplined my daughter in ways she didn’t apply to others. Despite my daughter’s dedication (over 20 classes per week including being a teaching assistant), she was yelled at, singled out and repeatedly dismissed when we raised concerns. She was expected to be both the example and the scapegoat.Instruction quality was inconsistent. Advanced dancers left after 2016, and class levels dropped. Some teachers were great—like Miss Hailey and Coach Kelly—but we paid extra for private lessons and choreography just to keep my daughter progressing, especially in tap and tumbling, where the regular training lacked consistency. At times, she had to share jazz tech classes with 5-year-olds, limiting her growth.Scheduling was demanding and inflexible—late-night solos followed by early-morning team calls with harsh consequences for arriving “late” (even when still within a normal call time). When I addressed these concerns, I was told I could quit if I didn’t like it. Classes 5 days per week. After we decided to leave and pursue training elsewhere, Amber found out and shared this information with other parents. Word spread quickly, and many of the students began mistreating my daughter. She was excluded, talked about, and made to feel extremely uncomfortable during her final recital season—even though she had committed to finishing strong with her team. It was heartbreaking to watch the environment turn so hostile for a child who had spent nearly her whole childhood there.Everyone’s experience is different, but if you’re considering S2T, be aware that beneath the performances is a culture of favoritism, inconsistent instruction, and retaliation if you step out of line or seek better opportunities. My daughter gave her all to this studio—and deserved better.Google limits characters so I had to shorten this.
June 15 · Jessica FischerMy family and I love this studio. My daughter has been dancing here for a while now. The teachers are so patient with her and really encourage her to push herself to learn new things. The competition team members are also very respectful and ensure they involve themselves with the recreational classes. My daughter always enjoys watching their classes when she can.The communication between the studio and parents is very thorough. Parents are in the loop about everything. In addition to the variety of dance classes the studio offers, they also offer tumbling classes. I have rarely, if ever, seen a dance studio that offers in house tumbling. As far as cost, it is one of the most affordable studios around. When we were looking to enroll our little one in dance a lot of other studios were charging an arm and a leg for classes and very high recital costume fees. A bonus are the camps that are offered during holiday breaks from school. We’ve had such a positive experience here and look forward for the years to come with our little one participating here.
March 14 · Cheyanne RamirezThis app is awesome, only been playing a short period of time but I am loving getting to play games listen to music and do surveys and getting paid to do it all. June 29 · Noel RankinMy daughter and I have been a part of this studio for 3 years now. The teachers make the classes fun. The point of taking a dance class at a young age is to build confidence, friendships, and a love of movement and dance. Too much pressure is put on children beyond that, and I believe the studio does a great job at loving and building up their students. We love Step 2 This!
March 15 · Ashley NutterI am a dancer at this studio, this dance school is very professional. All of the teacher there love and care for us all equally. There is no favoritism all kids and parents get treated equal. I've made so many friends here and have so many great memories and stories. This studio is a second home to me I would 100% recommend this dance studio is you have a passion for dance.
