The Academy of Performing Arts Introduce
For families across Wisconsin's Southeast region, from Milwaukee to Franklin, finding a place where children can not only learn but also thrive in the performing arts is a top priority. The Academy of Performing Arts in Oak Creek is that place. Born from a simple idea to inspire a love of the arts, this women-owned business has blossomed into a vibrant community where over a thousand students explore their passions each week. It's not just a studio; it's a hub for creativity, confidence, and connection, built on the belief that the performing arts can be a transformative force in a young person's life.
The Academy’s philosophy is to provide a positive and welcoming atmosphere where every student is encouraged to shine. The positive feedback from parents speaks volumes about this approach. As one parent shared, they were able to "shadow a class before signing up officially" which helped their daughter feel comfortable, and now she is "looking forward to the coming year." This commitment to a supportive environment has helped countless students grow in confidence and skills, as evidenced by another parent's review of their son who went from taking voice lessons to loving drama and dance classes, all while feeling that the "atmosphere is super positive and welcoming."
What truly sets the Academy apart is its dedication to a holistic education. The curriculum is designed to be educational, teaching proper technique and terminology, while also being motivating and fun. The variety of programs ensures that students can explore multiple artistic disciplines under one roof. Whether a child is interested in dance, music, or theatre, they can find a place to belong and a path to grow, surrounded by caring and excellent staff. The Academy’s focus is on helping children build not only performing skills but also discipline, teamwork, and lasting friendships.
The Academy of Performing Arts is located at 9160 S Pennsylvania Ave in Oak Creek, WI 53154. Its proximity to major roadways makes it a practical choice for families from across the greater Milwaukee metropolitan area.
Accessibility is a key feature of the facility. The studio provides a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, ensuring that the performing arts are available to everyone in the community. The thoughtful design of the studio includes features like one-way parent viewing windows, which allow parents to observe classes without distracting the students. The convenience of a well-maintained facility with ample parking space simplifies the logistics for busy families, allowing them to focus on the positive experience their child is having. What is worth choosing
For any family in Wisconsin considering a performing arts program, The Academy of Performing Arts in Oak Creek stands out as a premier destination for several key reasons. The most significant is its commitment to creating a safe and positive environment where children can truly flourish. As one parent noted, the ability to "shadow a class" made all the difference, showing that the Academy prioritizes the student's comfort and happiness from day one. This caring approach, led by a women-owned business, builds a strong foundation of confidence that is just as important as the artistic skills learned in class.
The sheer breadth of services offered is another major draw. Unlike a single-discipline studio, the Academy provides a full spectrum of performing arts education. A child can take a dance class one day, a music lesson the next, and participate in a drama production on the weekends. This integrated approach allows for a well-rounded artistic education and provides students with the opportunity to find their true passion. The availability of everything from recreational to competitive classes and from a "Parent/Tot" program to private music lessons ensures that the Academy can support a student’s entire artistic journey.
Finally, the practical benefits of choosing the Academy are clear. The convenient Oak Creek location with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking lot makes it easy for all members of the community to participate. The option for free trial classes removes any financial risk for a new family, and the emphasis on smaller class sizes guarantees that each student receives the attention they need to succeed. The consistent organization of events, as mentioned in customer reviews, further highlights the professionalism and dedication of the staff. For anyone in the Milwaukee area seeking a place where their child can learn, grow, and shine, The Academy of Performing Arts is an exceptional and highly recommended choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My daughter is going into her second year with APA and we are so happy to be back. We moved to the area last year and we didn't know where to start with dance classes. We were able to shadow a clas before signing up officially to make sure my daughter had the opportunity to meet the teacher and make sure that the class was a good fit. She loved it so much that we added on a theatre class starting in January 2024.Going to the performances is always fun and they are well organized. She has really enjoyed her time and she is looking forward to the coming year.
September 11 · Jacklyn HaasOur son started out with voice lessons but now also loves his APA drama club, musical theatre, and dance classes! He has participated in several theatre productions too and the atmosphere is super positive and welcoming. APA and its excellent staff have helped him learn and grow and we look forward to all their upcoming productions.
February 27 · Hillary WuchererMy daughters have loved their first year at APA! The Tap & Ballet combo class for 3 and 4 year olds has been a great fit for our little ladies. They are excited to attend every week and have grown throughout the year in skill and confidence. I was very impressed with the organization and quality of the winter showcase of all class levels who preformed. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for our budding dancers.
May 09 · Stacey RippmanMy daughter loves to dance and has been having so much fun going to her pre ballet classes. She gets excited when Saturdays come. Her teacher is so nice and understanding, even when my daughter has days or times that she doesn’t dance. I know she’s only 2 years old, but I love how she looks forward to class and seeing her teacher.
February 21 · Adilene HernandezIm a teenager who got back into dancing late (16) and had to re-learn a lot. I've felt very safe here, and haven't been bullied or ostracized for not knowing how to do moves as well as kids who have been dancing consistently since they were 2. Also, they have a gazebo by a lake with tons of bird species.
